Red Plate Foods is on a mission to help people connect over delicious foods that are safe for everyone, including people with food allergies and celiac disease.  Red Plate makes baked goods that are vegan and free of the top 8 food allergens (gluten/wheat, dairy, peanut, tree nut, soy, egg, fish and shellfish) in a dedicated facility located in Bend, Oregon.

Company founders, Becca and Chell Williams, deal with severe food allergies on a daily basis.  Chell has administered epinephrine shots multiple times when Becca was going into anaphylactic shock due to her dairy allergy.  Once their nephew was diagnosed with a peanut allergy, eating together became an even bigger challenge because of the lack of safe products available for multiple food allergies and food intolerances.  The Williams are not alone – as many as 15 million people in the United States suffer from food allergies, and nearly 1/3 of U.S. adults follow a restricted diet because of food intolerances.

Becca started whipping up allergy friendly recipes in their kitchen.  Response from friends and family encouraged them to turn these food allergy treats into a business.  Red Plate was launched in August of 2013 and now supplies allergy friendly products online and through select Fred Meyer and Market of Choice bakeries, Natural Grocers stores and independent grocery stores, airport convenience stores and restaurants in Oregon and Washington.  The company operates with four employees.

The name “Red Plate Foods” comes from a family tradition started in the 1970’s.  Chell’s family recognized accomplishments or special events like birthdays by serving the special person on a red plate.  The tradition carried on with Becca and Chell’s family, and has expanded to include Red Plate’s family of customers.
